Tata Nexon gets 5-star rating at Global NCAP, becomes the first Indian car with highest safety rating.
Earlier this year, the Tata Nexon received 4-stars at Global NCAP. However, in the latest round of Global NCAP, the compact SUV manages to score full 5-stars with slight modifications. Tata Motors has equipped the new lot of Nexon with seatbelt reminder for the front passengers across all the models. Also, the Nexon has passed the side impact test as well.
Scoring 16.06 points out of 17, the Nexon becomes the first Indian car to get full marks at Global NCAP. The full 5-star rated Nexon units will go in production from December 7 onwards. The compact SUV has scored 5-stars for Adult Occupant Protection and 3-stars for Child Occupant Protection.
The safety equipment in the Tata Nexon includes dual front airbags and ABS with EBD that are offered standard across all the variants. However, ISOFIX child mount seats are only offered with the XZ+ trim. The body shell of the Nexon was rated as stable and it was capable of withstanding further loadings according to the crash test report by the Global NCAP.
The Tata Nexon is quite a popular compact SUV these days in the Indian market offering both petrol and diesel engine options along with AMT transmission option. The Nexon competes with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
