The top 5 places out of 25 have been captured by our domestic manufacturer, Maruti.
Maruti Alto back at the top spot and it is the only car in the list that has crossed the twenty thousand units mark. The top five positions of the list have been taken by Maruti. The next three cars on the list are Baleno, Dzire and Swift whose sales figures are very close to each other.
The growth percentage of the Swift and Dzire has dropped mainly because of the GNCAP tests that were conducted in October. The fifth position is taken by Vitara Brezza which scored 4-star rating in the crash test.
At sixth place, it’s the Hyundai Elite i20 followed by Grand i10 and Creta. Hyundai Creta has always been in the top 10 list of every month since its launch. The Maruti cars, Wagon R and Celerio take the ninth and the tenth place to complete the top 10 cars in the list.
At the eleventh place, it’s the car which made its debut in October, the Santro. Around 8535 units of Santro were sold in the launch month itself. Tata Tiago at twelfth place saw a dip of ten percent. It seems Santro’s launch has dented the sales of Wagon R and Tiago. Mahindra Bolero takes the thirteenth spot and then the following two places were taken by Maruti Omni and Maruti Eeco respectively.
6700 units of Innova Crysta were sold in October and at the sixteenth place, this is the only Toyota vehicle in the list. Next car in the list is Renault Kwid, it is the Kwid that’s holding the French carmaker in India. Honda Amaze surprisingly saw a dip of 34 percent in sales. It’s the two SUVs, Tata Nexon at nineteenth and Mahindra Scorpio at twentieth that complete the top 20.
Ford makes an entry to the list at the twenty-first position with the EcoSport. Next is the Maruti Ciaz which saw the maximum dip in the list with 38 percent but it continues to remain the best-selling C-segment car. Mahindra Marazzo is doing good in sales and took the third last position of the list. The Honda City returned to the list with a jump of 41 percent in sales. The last place was taken by a crossover from Maruti, the S-Cross.
Apart from the above, Jeep Compass sales allow Fiat to float in the market. The Japanese manufacturer, Nissan didn’t even have a single car in the list. European manufacturers like Skoda and Volkswagen are also in similar condition. Tata Motors has two vehicles in the list. But it is the domestic manufacturer, Maruti which took 11 places out of 25 in the list.
