The Z400 is inspired by other Z range of bikes and gets the same engine from the Ninja 400.
Kawasaki has just revealed the naked sibling of the Ninja 400, called the Z400. The Z400 is inspired by Kawasaki’s Sugomi design philosophy just like other Z range of bikes. The Z400 is the smallest member of the Z range.
The foundation of the bike remains the Ninja 400’s tubular steel trellis frame that is lighter and more rigid than the old 300’s. The bike gets a distinctive looking LED headlight and a fully digital instrument cluster. The saddle height of the bike is 785 mm and the bike weighs 167 kg.
The suspension setup is the same from the Ninja 400, conventional telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The Z400 gets 310 mm front disc brake and dual-channel ABS as standard.
Powering the motorcycle is a 399cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 49 PS of power and 38 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission and comes with a slipper clutch as standard.
If Kawasaki brings this bike to India, it will be available to us via a CKD route. And if priced competitively, it will take on the likes of the KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300 and BMW G 310 R.
