The MG Motors SUV was seen testing in Vadodara, Gujarat.
MG Motors is about to enter the Indian market and their first product will be an SUV, that was recently spied testing in Gujarat. The Chinese automaker is benchmarking the new SUV against the Hyundai Tucson. It has been spotted earlier testing with the Tucson registered in the name of MG Motors.
The Jeep Compass is also being benchmarked against the upcoming MG Motors SUV. Considering the above scenario, we believe MG Motors will price the new SUV similar to the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson or maybe less.
The MG Motors SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 168 HP. A 2.0-litre diesel engine is also speculated but its power figures are currently a mystery.
The MG SUV will find itself in the premium range. It’s interior will be spacious and well built. With leather seats, a touch screen, steering mounted controls and an infotainment system, the car is expected to be well equipped. Several premium upgrades will also find their way in the SUV. Electronic seats, electronic parking brake, cruise control will be some of them.
The MG SUV is expected to be bigger in size than the Hyundai Tucson as well as the Jeep Compass. With 1760 mm of height, 4655 mm of length and 1835 mm of width, it is certainly one of the biggest cars in its segment.
The upcoming MG Motors SUV will be the company’s first launch in India. Initially, it will be launched with a five-seater model. However, MG Motors also plan to launch a seven and eight seater variant in the future.
