Hero Splendor dethrones the Honda Activa for the top spot in the 25 most selling two-wheelers’ list of September 2018.
The top spot in the 25 most selling bikes in the month of September is taken by Hero Splendor. The Splendor outsold the Honda Activa by just 699 units. Splendor sales bumped by 16 percent whereas the Activa saw a dip of 8 percent. Apart from the above two vehicles, the third vehicle which sold more than two lakh units is the Hero HF Deluxe. Surprisingly, the fourth spot is taken by a moped i.e. the TVS XL Super. The moped is the lifeline of many people who use this vehicle both for commercial as well as personal use. The sales figures of this moped just fell short by a few hundred to reach one lakh units. With Hero Passion in fifth position, there are three bikes from Hero in the top five.
At sixth place, it’s the TVS Jupiter which is the second most sold scooter. The Pune based manufacturer makes an entry in the list at seventh position with the Bajaj CT, followed by the Bajaj Pulsar series. The Hero Glamour and Honda CB Shine took the ninth and tenth position respectively. Sales dropped by a massive 26 percent for the CB Shine. This is the maximum drop in sales percent in the entire list. The Bajaj Platina takes the eleventh position and with 47 percent month-on-month growth, it is the highest in the entire list. The twelfth place is taken by the TVS Apache. On thirteenth place, it is the Suzuki Access 125 and this is yet again the only Suzuki in the list. The fourteenth and fifteenth positions are taken by the Honda Dio and Royal Enfield Classic 350 respectively.
The Hero Maestro saw an eighteen percent increase in sales. The following two places where occupied by two Hondas, the Dream and the CB Unicorn. On nineteenth place, it is the TVS’ Sport which saw a bump of 33 percent in sales. The Hero Duet was sandwiched between two TVS bikes. The twenty-first place was taken by the TVS Star City which is a new entrant in the list. The two Yamahas, the FZ and Fascino took the twenty-second and the penultimate position on the list respectively. TVS’ power scooter NTorq was sandwiched between the above two Yamahas. The last place on the list was taken by the TVS Pep+.
With seven entries, TVS had the maximum number of two-wheelers in the list. Hero MotoCorp and Honda had six and five entries respectively. The Pune based manufacturer, Bajaj Auto took three position and Yamaha managed to take two places in the list. The rest two places where taken by Suzuki and Royal Enfield. The month of September saw four vehicles whose sales percent jumped more than 40 percent and three vehicle whose sales number was more than two lakh units individually.
Apart from these commuter segment bikes, the Harley-Davidson Street 750, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Triumph Street Twin are the best-selling bikes of their respective makers in the performance segment. The Japanese manufacturer, Kawasaki managed to sell only one unit of the world’s fastest accelerating bike, the H2. Honda sold two units of the Goldwing, fourteen units of the CBR650F and eleven units of the Africa Twin.
