Suzuki unveils the legendary Katana at the ongoing Intermot 2018 show.
Suzuki has taken the covers off the new Katana. The new bike bears the name of an acclaimed bike of 1981 called the Katana. It carries many design elements from the Katana concept. The Suzuki sticker on the tank of the new bike is inspired from the 1981 Suzuki’s font.
The rectangle LED headlamp is housed inside an aggressive front fairing. The chiselled fuel tank and floating tail give the bike a very sporty appeal. The capacity of the fuel tank is just 12-litres. The new Katana gets the same all-digital LCD dash from the GSX-R1000R.
The Katana is powered by a 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine churns out 150 HP of power and 108 Nm of torque. The bike comes equipped with a slipper clutch and three-level traction control system.
The TC system on this bike can be switched off. The fully-adjustable KYB 43 mm diameter USD fork on the front and the rear monoshock unit with preload and rebound damping complete the suspension hardware of the bike. Brembo radial callipers and dual-channel ABS is standard on the bike.
Apart from the above, there are many speculations that Suzuki may bring a turbocharged 700cc Katana. The European market will get their hands on this legendary motorcycle by early next year and the bike is expected to hit Indian shores by late 2019.
