This is the first spotting of the new Hyundai Grand i10 that will be coming to India in 2019.
Hyundai has started testing a new hatchback in South Korea which is reported to be the third generation of the very popular i10, which is known as the Grand i10 in India. It will come to India in 2019 and will replace the current generation model which is now almost six years old.
The next generation Hyundai Grand i10 looks to be bigger in size than the current model. This will help the company as it won’t have to make changes to the car to make it bigger for the Indian market as it did in the case of the second generation model. For the uninitiated, the Grand i10 currently on sale in India is 40 mm and 100 mm longer in wheelbase and length respectively, than the model that is sold internationally.
Not only will the size of the next generation Hyundai Grand i10 grow but its interiors will also be better. The top-spec car in India already has segment-leading features like a multifunction steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system. The new model won’t be any different as Hyundai is known to load its cars pretty well.
The 1.2-litre engine that powers the current model will also likely receive a power upgrade and Hyundai might even go ahead and provide it with an all-new engine to be 2019 ready. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an automatic gearbox.
The launch of the next generation Hyundai Grand i10 is still about a year away but will be among the eight new cars the company will be introducing in India. The first among these will be the Hyundai Santro (code-named AH2) whose naming campaign has begun. It will go on sale this festive season and will be Hyundai’s smallest car in India once the Eon is discontinued by the end of 2018.
