The Honda Activa i scooter comes with only design updates while mechanically it remains the same.
The 2018 Honda Activa i has been given a silent launch and is now available at a price of Rs. 50,010/- (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a marginal hike from the outgoing model.
The 2018 Honda Activa i has got visual updates that are more female oriented to appeal to the women of our society. As part of this, the scooter gets five new colours – Candy Jazzy Blue, Imperial Red Metallic, Lush Magneta Metallic, Orchid Purple Metallic and Mat Axis Grey Metallic. There is also a new metallic exhaust muffler, front hook and a dual-tone analogue instrument console. Like other scooters in the Honda portfolio, the new Activa-i also gets a four-in-one ignition and a separate switch to open the seat. There’s also an under-seat mobile charger available as an extra.
Mechanically though, the 2018 Honda Activa i remains unchanged. It is powered by the same 109cc, air-cooled motor that develops 8 HP and 9 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT gearbox. These figures are good enough for city riding and won’t disappoint. The motor comes with Honda Eco Technology (HET) which ensures maximum performance and mileage. There are drum brakes at the front and the rear and combined braking system (CBS) with equalizer comes as standard.
Though the Honda Activa i is the most affordable scooter in the Activa range, unlike the Activa 5G and 125 that sell in huge numbers, the Activa i hasn’t really been able to get its sales chart ticking at the same speed. Let’s hope that with the new additions and updates, the scooter finally starts moving off the shelf like its cousins.
