The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS have been launched in India surrounded by high anticipation from the enthusiasts. The bikes look good and the specifications are as expected. But what will leave you wanting for more is the price that these bikes sell at.
The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS on-road prices in Mumbai are Rs. 3.62 lakhs and Rs. 4.19 lakhs respectively and this is without taking into account the BMW Motorrad Essential which further costs Rs. 16,500 over the on road price. For the price of the G 310 GS, you can get a TVS Apache RR 310 and still have money left to buy a Yamaha FZ25. Whereas, at the cost of the G 310 R, you can buy the KTM Duke 390 for when you want speed and still have money left for buying a TVS Ntorq 125 for your daily commute in the city.
Considering the fact that the bikes come with a 313cc engine, share a number of parts and are produced in TVS’s Hosur factory makes the prices seem a bit on the higher side. The feature list too pales in front of the KTM Duke 390. The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS have seen a delayed launch in India. However, being a BMW, it was kind of expected that these bikes will carry a premium price tag.
For the time being, it seems unlikely that the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS will sell in truly large numbers. As for the enthusiasts and people with loaded pockets, bookings have begun for both the bikes at Rs. 50,000/- while deliveries are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
