The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine increases affordability, efficiency and agility of the F-Type.
The Jaguar F-Type in India has just got a new engine option with the Ingenium petrol engine. This engine is derived from Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium series of modular engines aimed at better efficiency and adaptability.
The 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is capable of producing 300 HP and 400 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels. This enables the car to do a 0-100 km/h in a claimed time of 5.7 seconds while the top speed is rated at 250 km/h.
Since the engine is smaller now, it is also lighter by 52 kilograms. The lighter weight has helped in making the front of the F-Type lighter. This coupled with the newly tuned chassis gives the driver an even greater steering response, body control and ride comfort.
A finely-tuned active exhaust is standard on the entry-level F-Type models, while the R-Dynamic variants feature a switchable active exhaust for that added auricular play.
While the other F-Type variants start at Rs. 2.65 crores, with the launch of these new models, the car has now become more accessible. It is available in two models, Coupe and Convertible which are priced at Rs. 90.93 lakhs and Rs 1.01 crores respectively, (both, ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The Ingenium petrol engine powered F-Type rivals the Porsche Cayman (Rs. 81.63 lakhs) and Boxster (Rs. 85.53 lakhs).
