2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 range launched in India, priced from Rs. 15.99 lakhs.
The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 and the 1260 S have been launched in India priced at Rs. 15.99 lakhs and Rs. 18.06 lakhs (ex-showroom, India) respectively. The Multistrada 1260 range is the flagship Ducati adventure touring motorcycle in India. Globally, the vehicle is offered in four variants – Multistrada 1260, Multistrada 1260 S, Multistrada 1260 D-Air and Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak.
The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 and the 1260 S use a larger engine displacement of 1262cc with DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing). The L-Twin cylinder motor is capable of producing 158 PS at 9500 RPM and 129.5 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM. The flat torque curve ensures that 85% of the peak torque is delivered from as low as 3500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
Both the Multistrada 1260 and the 1260 S use fully adjustable 48 mm inverted forks (by Sachs) up front but at the rear, the 1260 gets only a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock with preload adjustment. The 1260 S additionally, gets semi-active DSS (Ducati Skyhook Suspension) Evo. Both the motorcycles come shod with 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 120 and 190 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. The Multistrada 1260 gets twin 320 mm disc brakes at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear whereas the 1260 S comes with twin 330 mm disc brakes at the front and a 265 mm disc at the rear. Both the variants are offered with Bosch Cornering ABS as standard.
The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 gets an LCD instrument cluster while the 1260 S comes with a 5-inch colour TFT display. Both the bikes come with a 20-litre fuel tank capacity, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), riding modes, power modes, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), cruise control, backlit handlebar while the 1260 S also gets Ducati Cornering Lights, Ducati Quick Shift (up/down) and a full LED headlamp. The bike has an extended maintenance interval with oil changes required at every 15,000 kms and valve adjustments at 30,000 kms.
