The 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8 has been launched in India and is now available to order at a price of Rs. 3.78 crores (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the standard model, subject to exchange rate fluctuations and options. The luxury SUV was unveiled earlier this year and the new variant sits between the W12 and V8 diesel models in terms of performance and price.
First, let’s get away with the numbers part. Powering the 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8 is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol motor that produces 550 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 770 Nm of torque at 1960-4500 RPM. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with permanent AWD sourced from ZF. Top speed is limited to 290 km/hr and the SUV does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 4.5 seconds.
In terms of design and styling, there are subtle additions that the 2018 Bentley Bentayga V8 gets. The luxury SUV gets a large matrix (mesh) grille, high-temperature resistant Tornado red painted red brake calipers and twin-quad exhaust tailpipes at the rear. The cabin of the vehicle is all about exquisite handcrafted materials and advanced technological features. There is a new 3-spoke wood and hide trimmed steering wheel (available in seven different veneer finishes) and carbon-fibre interior panels. Being a Bentley, the interior is highly customisable and cricket ball leather makes its debut in the Bentayga V8. Some of the features on offer are Park Assist, Night Vision, Head-Up Display and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation and 60 GB hard drive.
The rear seat passengers are treated to the Bentley Entertainment Tablet, a removable 10.2-inch Android device with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. For the audiophiles, the company is offering three different sound systems to choose from – Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Bentley Premium Audio. The latter is the most powerful system in the segment with an output of 1950 Watts.
