The 2018 Mahindra XUV700 has been spotted doing test runs in the sand. Sources report that Mahindra is testing the upcoming XUV700 as part of the pre-launch drives. Since this is a full-size off-road SUV, the homegrown automaker could possibly be testing the 4WD mechanism of the car. The test mule, however, did not sport the signature Mahindra toothed grille.
The Mahindra XUV700 (name yet to be confirmed) will come powered by a 2.2-litre e-XDi220 engine under the hood which produces 187 HP of power and 420 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes-Benz and a selectable 4WD system. The 7-seater SUV will be positioned above the XUV500 and will come with all the bells and whistles like a touchscreen infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery, automatic headlamps and wipers, automatic climate control and a powered tailgate.
Underpinned by a Quad Frame chassis, the 2018 Mahindra XUV700 was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The vehicle will rival the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour and is likely to be priced at around Rs. 24 lakhs (ex-showroom) thereby undercutting its rivals by a huge margin.
