DC Hammer is a customised Mahindra Thar with over Rs. 5.95 lakhs worth of modifications.
In April 2017, DC Design revealed a handful of sketches of a Mahindra Thar Concept which looked absolutely drool-worthy in the pictures. The domestic design house has rolled out a custom Thar at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo and this one is their second attempt after the hideous Urban Thar revealed in 2014. The customised car has been named the DC Hammer and is said to cost Rs. 5.95 lakhs over the price of a Mahindra Thar.
Featuring heavily flared wheel arches, hood scoop, revised bumpers, LED lighting and chrome off-road wheels wrapped in fatter rubber, the DC Hammer comes dipped in gloss black paint and retains the Thar’s originality very well. The hardtop comes with an openable rear hatch and its various contours give the SUV a squat stance. There is a ‘Hammer’ badging on the doors and there are changes to the cabin as well.
On the inside, DC Hammer flaunts a bright red theme with chrome and wood inserts. Apart from the addition of a touchscreen infotainment unit, there is a custom headliner and two forward-facing captain seats at the back. All seats and door trims are clad in red upholstery stitched nicely in a quilted pattern.
There are no changes to the mechanicals and the vehicle continues to be powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe engine. Undoubtedly, this one is among the finer modifications from the Avanti-maker.
