The Maserati Levante has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs. 1.45 crores.
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, the Maserati Levante was introduced to global markets later that year. Starting the year on a high note, the Italian carmaker has made the luxury SUV available in India. Prices start at Rs. 1.45 crores for the base variant, followed by Rs. 1.48 crores for the Levante GranSport and Rs. 1.53 crores for the top-of-the-line GranLusso trim. (All prices are ex-showroom, India)
Measuring 5003 mm x 2158 mm x 1679 mm (length x width x height) in exterior dimensions, the Levante has a striking appearance with sharp cuts and creases running seamlessly across the body line. An imposing front grill, long bonnet and tapering roofline wrapped in a clean Italian design give the SUV immense road presence. The GranLusso trim comes with metallic finish roof rails and skid plates while the GranSport adopts sportier aesthetics with Black Piano design elements.
For now, Maserati has introduced the diesel-engined Levante in India and V6 petrol and twin-turbo V8 engines are expected to join the line-up later. Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the 3.0-litre V6 engine develops 275 HP of power at 4000 RPM and 600 Nm of torque from 2000-2600 RPM. The Levante sprints from 0-100 km/hr in 6.9 seconds to reach its top speed of 230 km/hr. In addition to Torque Vectoring, active air suspension and Q4 all-wheel drive system, the SUV gets four driving modes and Active Sound exhaust.
On the inside, you get a luxuriously-appointed cabin with Radica open-pore wood trim, panoramic sunroof and powered Comfort seats with memory function. The interior can be had draped in full premium Italian leather or Zegna Silk Edition upholstery. The GranSport trim gets powered Sport seats with enhanced bolstering on the steering wheel as well. Wood trim is replaced by alumiunium and brushed chrome trim inside the GranSport.
Taking centrestage inside the cabin is an 8.4-inch MTC+ unit that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Output is delivered through a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system which can be replaced by a more powerful 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround system for a better experience on-board. The car also comes equipped with the Maserati Stability Program which relies on sensors to take control over all electronic aids. With the Levante, Maserati primarily targets the Jaguar F-Pace, Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport.
