The Yamaha Aerox 155cc scooter has been spotted in India, rival to the Aprilia SR 150.
The Yamaha Aerox 155cc scooter has been reportedly spied in India. Yamaha is likely to showcase the scooter at the 2018 Auto Expo and sources confirm that the scooter is likely to be launched here on 25th February 2018.
The Aerox features all top-notch hardware like full LED headlights, LED tail-light, all-digital instrument cluster with 5.8-inch display, 14-inch wheels, 25-litres under-seat storage and disc brake (for the front wheel) with ABS as standard. The scooter comes powered by a 155cc Blue Core liquid-cooled motor that produces 14.8 HP of power at 8000 RPM and 14.4 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM.
The Japanese automaker has not yet put a word on the scooter’s launch in India and if we are to go by the growth of the automatic scooter segment in India, there is definitely a market for premium scooters as well. Aprilia SR 150 and Vespa 150 are the only two contenders in this segment right now and that could change very soon as Suzuki and TVS are likely to introduce premium scooters as well. Both the vehicles are likely to debut at the upcoming Auto Expo.
Yamaha currently has only 110cc scooters in its India line-up in the form of Fascino, Alpha, Ray and Ray ZR. The company could be evaluating to enter the 125cc and 150cc scooter market and grab a significant market share. That said, more information is likely to be revealed only at the 2018 Auto Expo.
