Although many iterations have come and gone, the Bajaj Discover 125 continues to remain a sorted offering even after 14 years of existence. The domestic automaker has now launched an updated version in the form of the 2018 Bajaj Discover 125 that comes with cosmetic updates over the outgoing model. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, this air-cooled motor puts out 11 PS of power and 11 Nm of torque. With a claimed top speed of 100 km/hr, average fuel efficiency of the motorcycle is rated at 82.5 kms to a litre which results in a healthy tank range by commuter standards. Feature list of the Discover 125 comprises of alloy wheels, electric start, LED DRLs, maintenance-free battery, 35/35W DC headlamp and an optional disc brake.
Visual changes on the motorcycle include new colour options, DRLs and revised body graphics. The lower portion, including the engine and transmission casing, alloy wheels and telescopic forks, now comes finished in black to lend it a sporty appearance. The exhaust muffler gets a chrome-plated heat shield as seen on the earlier version but the instrument cluster is a new part-digital unit with an analog tachometer. Suspension components are tuned for more comfort and offer over 16% more travel as compared to the rivals. The Discover 125 is suspended via telescopic forks and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the front and rear respectively.
Braking is performed through 130 mm drum brakes on the front and rear wheels in the base variant. The top variant, at a premium of Rs. 2823/-, comes equipped with a more effective 200 mm disc brake at the front to provide better stopping power. The colour options on offer include – Flame Red, Ebony Black and Blue.
