The 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift has been spotted testing in India, could be showcased at the Auto Expo.
The facelifted Maruti Ciaz has been spied on test yet again. The mid-size sedan was moved to the company’s premium outlet called Nexa and is currently the oldest car in its segment. Hyundai got in the new Verna in August last year while the facelifted Honda City was launched in February 2017. High-time Maruti launched the Ciaz facelift keeping it relevant in the market. MotorBeam reader Sukhpreet Singh has spotted the car and clicked images for us.
The black test car looks identical to the current Maruti Ciaz courtesy the alloy wheels, headlights and tail-lights. Though the car is completely camouflaged, it reveals the projector headlamps, fog lamps and ORVM-mounted turn indicators. Considering that both of its rivals now offer a sunroof, Maruti could go that extra mile and offer one on the facelifted Ciaz as well (on the range-topping Alpha trim).
This is probably the mid-variant being tested and the automaker is expected to introduce more features (like automatic headlights and wipers) and tweak the exteriors as well as the interiors. The Ciaz facelift will continue to be powered by the same 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. Both the petrol and diesel motors get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the petrol is likely to get a CVT gearbox as optional (in place of the 4-speed conventional torque converter unit).
The carmaker is yet to put a word on the launch timeline of the facelifted Ciaz. However, we expect the mid-size sedan to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo along with the Future S concept.
