The 2018 Maruti Swift has been spotted completely undisguised at an ad shoot.
India launch of the 2018 Maruti Swift is nearing and the hatchback has been spotted without covers during a TV commercial shoot. Pre-launch media activities for the new car will commence in January which will be followed by the market launch. The spotted car is devoid of any sort of badges and leaving the alloy wheels aside, the vehicle looks identical to the one on sale in the international markets. This is the very first sighting of the 2018 Swift in India sans camouflage.
The vehicle wears a red paint shade and features two-tone alloy wheels that will probably be offered in the top trims. The 2018 Maruti Swift will carry forward the same engines as the current model – a 1.3-litre diesel and a 1.2-litre petrol. Both the powertrains will come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the 5-speed AMT gearbox will be offered as optional.
The 2018 iteration will underpin the HEARTECT platform which will make the Swift lighter than the current model. It also gets features like projector headlights with LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, revamped cabin with new flat-bottom steering wheel and a 7.0-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Rivaling the Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo, the company is likely to introduce the Sport and Hybrid variants of the Swift a few months after the launch of the regular petrol and diesel versions. However, Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm this.
