The 2018 Yamaha R3 has been unveiled for international markets. Apart from the cosmetic changes, there aren’t any mechanical changes done to the motorcycle. The new R3 gets a new Team Yamaha (black and blue) paint scheme.
The 2018 Yamaha R3 continues with the same 321cc inline-twin, fuel-injected and liquid-cooled motor that produces 41 HP of power at 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9000 RPM. The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension is the same 41 mm KYB forks up front and a KYB monoshock at the rear. 298 mm disc up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear take care of braking duties with ABS offered as optional. The motorcycle tips the scales at 170 kgs and gets a fuel tank capacity of 14-litres.
Prices start at 4999 US dollars (approximately Rs. 3.2 lakhs) for the non-ABS model and 5299 US dollars (approximately Rs. 3.47 lakhs) for the ABS variant, both MSRP. The 2018 Yamaha R3 goes on sale from February 2018 in the US. Other than the new Team Yamaha colour, the new R3 is also available in Raven and Vivid White colours. Yamaha had discontinued the R3 in India post the ban on BS3 vehicles and is expected to launch the BS4 compliant R3 in India next year. ABS might not make it to the India-spec R3 as the R15 maker had confirmed that ABS will be offered on its motorcycles only when mandatory.
