Honda has unveiled the 2018 Africa Twin Adventure Sport for hardcore adventure enthusiasts.
It’s not been too long that we got the Honda Africa Twin on our shores and the lucky lads who rode it are all praises. The motorcycle comes with a do-it-all character with its engine and specifications being suitable for both on and off-road. But, Honda has now upped the game as it has unveiled the all-new 2018 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport before its official showcasing at the EICMA 2017. The motorcycle marks the 30th anniversary of the Honda XRV650 Africa Twin which is four-time winner of the Paris Dakar Rally.
The 2018 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport, along with the road manners, possesses all the aspects which make it better for long off-road riding as well. Digging into the details, the dimensions have been changed as compared to the standard model. The ground clearance of the motorcycle measures at 270 mm which is 20 mm higher now. The rider sits at the height of 899 mm which will enhance the control while enthusiastic off-roading and is 49 mm higher to that of the current model.
Talking about the looks, Honda has taken the butchness to a level higher as this looks more fancy and elegant. The Adventure Sports model gets new refreshed graphics to give it an outstanding appearance while the taller windscreen makes it look more ready for long adventures. Contrary to the standard model’s 18.8-litre fuel tank, the one on this has a capacity of 24.2-litres for providing an uninterrupted riding experience.
Powering the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sport is the same 998cc parallel-twin engine good for 95 PS and 99 Nm. However, the 2.3 kg weight shedding due to the usage of lithium-ion battery contributes to agiler riding. The bike gets two gearbox options – Manual and DCT.
Both of them have slight weight difference as the manual trim weighs 243 kgs and DCT version weighs around 10 kgs more. The mechanicals also bear slight changes. The wheels are made up of stainless steel with 21-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear. The Showa cartridge type forks are fully adjustable. Honda has also tweaked the exhaust which, as they claim, is louder.
