The highly anticipated Yamaha R15 V3.0 has been spotted testing on Indian soil for the first time ever.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 has been spied testing in Delhi, India for the very first time. Yamaha launched the R15 V2.0 back in 2011 and an update to the motorcycle has been a long time coming. Don’t get me wrong, R15 V2.0 still is doing well in the Indian market, selling 4921 units in September 2017.
While the Japanese bike maker hasn’t officially confirmed a launch timeline for the Yamaha V3.0 in India, we expect the motorcycle to make it to Indian shores by early next year. An unveiling is also expected at the 2018 Auto Expo. The spotted test mule isn’t very clear in the image above as there is a jacket covering the motorcycle. However, the front fascia with the new dual-LED headlamps setup and the new alloy wheels make it evident that this is the V3.0.
Interestingly the test mule doesn’t feature up-side down forks at the front, it rather gets standard telescopic forks. Though the test mule pictured here doesn’t feature ABS, Yamaha is likely to offer the safety feature. The R15 V3.0 is likely to be powered by the new 155cc VVA motor that is also used around the world. The 155cc engine makes 19.3 HP (2.5 HP more than the R15 V2.0) of power and 14.7 Nm of torque.
Expect the Yamaha R15 price to be upwards of Rs. 1.6 lakhs with no direct competition for the full-faired 150cc sports motorcycle till Honda launches the CBR150R in the Indian market.
