Royal Enfield will give the Classic series, the much needed rear disc brake and additional colours.
Finally, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and 500 will get a rear disc brake. Both the variants of the Classic will also employ a swingarm from the Thunderbird as well. The Royal Enfield Bullet will then be the only bike in Royal Enfield’s portfolio to still offer a rear drum brake.
The Classic 350 gets a new Gun Grey colour scheme. The front and rear mudguards, fuel-tank and side boxes are finished in Gun Grey while the stickers on the bike are in matte black. The motorcycle also gets a contrast tan colour seat.
The new black colour on the Classic 500 is called Stealth Black. The headlamp ring, handlebar and its clamp and the spoked wheels are finished in black while body parts like the front and rear mudguards, fuel-tank, toolbox and the air-filter box get a matte black colour.
Mechanicals on both the motorcycles remains the same. The Classic 350 is powered by a 346cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 19.8 HP of power and 28 Nm of torque. The Classic 500 is powered by a 499cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine but also gains fuel-injection. This 499cc mill produces 27.2 HP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque. Both these motorcycles come matched to a 5-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield hasn’t yet revealed a launch timeline of the updated bikes but expect the Bullet maker to make an announcement in the coming weeks. The company started offering a rear disc along with ABS in global markets earlier this year but ABS won’t be offered on the Indian models anytime soon.
