Suzuki has announced two new colour options for its Access 125 gearless scooter.
Suzuki launched the new generation of its best-seller Access 125 scooter in March 2016. It was unveiled at the Auto Expo last year and featured improved styling along with many other updates. The body panels were redesigned in a retro theme and offered alloy wheels, optional front disc brake and LED tail-light. The focus was on improved comfort and ergonomics for the new model. The company has added two more colour options – Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Fibroin Grey, to the Suzuki Access 125.
Some feature additions have been made to the second generation Suzuki Access 125 to make it more practical. These include a front storage pocket, optional DC socket, 21-litre underseat storage and an improved instrument cluster. The new instrument cluster is a semi-analog unit that also shows two trip meters and service reminder on the digital display. Suzuki Easy Start System has been adopted to get rid of cold-starting issues faced by scooters. The 2016 Access uses telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. An upright seating position and large footboard makes the Access suitable for tall rides as well.
The 125cc engine is carried forward from the older Access 125. The air-cooled motor generates 8 BHP of power and 10.2 NM of torque. While the numbers seem conservative on paper, the Access 125 has a low kerb weight of 102 kgs. This ensures optimum performance and easy manoeuvrability at low speeds. Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology ensures reduced friction and results in improved fuel efficiency. The claimed fuel efficiency figures stand at 64 km/l.
Other than the two new matte shades, the Access 125 is offered in blue, grey, red, white, silver and black colour options. The new colours are exclusive to the disc brake varaint which is priced at Rs. 59,603/-. The primary competitor to Access 125 is the Honda Activa 125, which is priced at Rs. 61,362/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) for the disc brake varaint.
