The face of the XUV Aero looks more or less similar to the XUV500

Mahindra showcased the XUV Aero at the 2016 Auto Expo and back then the company was still evaluating the launch prospects of this coupe styled SUV. Now over a year after showcasing it, the company has arrived at a decision and the good news is that they have shown the green signal to the XUV Aero and it will be heading into production soon.

Talking about coupe styled SUVs, only some luxury products like the BMW X6 are available in this segment in India. With these cars costing upwards of Rs. 90 lakhs they aren’t in the reach of the average Indian SUV buyer, and that is where the XUV Aero will exactly fit in.

Based on the XUV 500, the XUV Aero gets a striking front fascia with sporty elements, while at the side, the XUV Aero reveals its youthful appeal. The coupe like sloping roof-line aids in the car’s aerodynamics as well. Considering the sloping roof-line, the XUV Aero will most probably seat five passengers only.

The XUV Aero will be manufactured in the company’s Chakan facility near Pune. On the mechanical front, the XUV Aero is likely to borrow the same mHawk powertrain that powers the XUV 500. Mahindra is also expected to offer an all-electric powertrain as well.

Expect a near production ready model to make its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and a launch at the end of 2018 or early 2019. Mahindra is expected to price the XUV Aero in the range of Rs. 20-25 lakhs.
