Next generation Honda Amaze to debut at the 2018 Auto Expo, as the development on the second generation Amaze is almost complete.
The development on the second generation Honda Amaze is almost complete at Honda’s R&D base in Thailand and it is expected to make its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo here in India. Entering its second generation, the Honda Amaze was given a facelift in March 2016 and still continues to do monthly volumes of 1500 to 3000 units. Like the first generation model, the new Amaze will share its platform with the Brio and the Mobilio.
The second generation Amaze has also seen inputs from Honda India’s engineering team as well. In fact, the automaker’s Tapukara facility will be the global supply base for the Amaze’s engines. Carrying significant upgrades, the new Amaze will also get a more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a petrol engine option. Meanwhile, Honda is studying the market performance of the Maruti Dzire AMT, so that it helps in deciding whether or not to offer the Amaze with an AMT.
The cabin of the new compact sedan will also undergo an overhaul featuring a new climate control system as well as a new interface for the infotainment system. Honda will also make the new Amaze more fuel efficient than the current model.
With every rival of the Amaze being launched in a new avatar recently, it’s Honda’s turn now. Since the development will still need some time, we expect the new Amaze to make its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. Market launch is expected to happen around August or September 2018.
