Maruti Ciaz Facelift spotted, will get minor cosmetic tweaks and more equipment.
Earlier it was reported that Maruti Suzuki will be launching three new cars by this financial year in the form of an updated S-Cross, Celerio and the next-generation Swift. With the Maruti Ciaz facelift being spotted, that number will go up by one, making it four launches in this financial year.
The mid-size sedan from Maruti was spotted in flesh doing its test runs on the Gurgaon highway. There aren’t any noticeable changes on the car’s exteriors, as it looks very much identical to the current selling Ciaz. The interior though is expected to get a new instrument cluster with a larger Multi-Information Display.
Maruti is also expected to add some equipment on the Ciaz to make it an even more premium offering. Features like Auto Headlamp, LED Projector Headlamps, Rain-Sensing Wipers may make it to the top of the line variant.
The spotted test car had an automatic gearbox. Maruti could be offering a new CVT gearbox instead of the standard 4-speed torque converter that powers the current Ciaz. Maruti is expected to offer the same 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines with no mechanical changes.
It could also be that Maruti is only planning to bring a new automatic gearbox on the Ciaz and is testing the same, however, we aren’t sure. The Ciaz recently shifted to the NEXA premium outlets and has been a good seller, selling approximately 4000 plus units a month. The Maruti Ciaz rivals the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
