The 2018 Toyota Camry has been unveiled in Japan and will be launched in India next year.
The Toyota Camry made its global debut at the Detroit Auto Show this January and now the automaker has unveiled the large sedan back in its home market Japan. Toyota has also released a Japanese language teaser video showing the all-new Camry’s development.
The all new Camry is built on the Toyota’s latest TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) architecture that will also underpin various other models from the automaker’s stable along with some Lexus cars too.
The Camry we see here is aimed at only the North-American and Japanese markets. In some markets like Thailand, Australia and China both versions of the Camry are sold. For instance, Thailand imports the Australian-market Camry and sells it as the Camry ESport alongside the regular Camry models.
The Japanese market Camry will continue to be offered with the current model’s hybrid-only engine line-up. The US markets on the other hand will be offered with the 3 engine options. A 3.5-litre V6 petrol, a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid.
The Japan-spec Camry will get additional styling options from the Toyota’s in-house Modellista and TRD divisions. The all new Camry shown here will only go on sale in USA in December 2017 and it is all likely that Japan too will witness the model’s launch well before December. We can expect Toyota to launch the new Camry in India in 2018.
