The 2017 BMW India line up has been revised extensively, with several model additions and deletions.
BMW has introduced several new models and axed several as well from its line up here in India. The 3-Series, 5-Series and 7-Series are the sedans affected and among the SUVs are the X1 and the X3.
2017 BMW M760Li
The biggest of the lot is the launch of the performance version of its flagship sedan, the 7-Series. Badged as the M760Li, the range-topping sedan is powered by a 6.6-litre V12 petrol engine that churns out 610 HP and comes mated to BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system as standard. Courtesy that and this becomes the most powerful 7-Series currently on sale in India. What this beast is capable of is a supercar rivalling 0-100 km/hr figure of just 3.7 seconds!
The M760Li performance variant gets a sportier body kit, tyres wrapped in 20-inch M alloys, a new exhaust system and V12 badging in and on the car. The M760Li xDrive is priced at Rs. 2.27 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in 2 variants, the standard M760Li and the M760Li Excellence.
2017 BMW 330i
BMW has also updated the 3-Series by replacing the 320i with the 330i from the 3-Series GT. Under the hood, the 2.0-litre petrol unit carries forward, but the power and torque figures see a bump of 68 HP and 80 Nm to 252 HP and 350 Nm. The new 330i is available in 2 variants again, Sportline and M-Sport Edition priced at Rs. 42.4 lakhs and Rs 44.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
2017 BMW X1 sDrive20i
The last addition to the line up is the much-awaited petrol X1. The petrol X1 badged as the X1 sDrive20i is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine potent of producing 191 HP of power and comes coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol X1 is priced identical to its diesel cousin at Rs. 35.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in only on the mid-level xLine trim.
BMW has also axed several variants from its line up and this includes the 5-Series. Soon to be replaced, the 5-Series is no more available with a petrol engine and the entry-diesel variant too has been removed from the line-up. The next model that’s axed is the 6-cylinder diesel X3, badged the xDrive30d. Powered by the 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine that makes 258 horses, this was the range-topping X3 available. The X3 is now available only in choice of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
