Honda has launched its litre-class adventure tourer, the Africa Twin here in India today. The Africa Twin is available only through Honda’s Wing World dealerships and is priced at Rs. 12.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Honda Africa Twin uses a semi-double cradle type chassis with high tensile strength steel rear sub-frame and comes with a host of tech-laden features. There’s a digital tachometer, handlebars with knuckle guards, dual-channel ABS (the rear wheel’s functionality can be disabled), three-stage traction control that can be completely switched off, LED headlamps, LED tail-lights and winkers. The motorcycle gets a ground clearance of 250 mm.
Powering the Honda Africa Twin is a 998cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that puts out 87 HP of power and 92 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) offering the riders to choose between manual and automatic gear shifting modes. The bike uses a 45 mm inverted forks up front that offer 230 mm travel and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are via a 310 mm twin disc setup up front and a 256 mm single disc at the rear.
The Honda Africa Twin runs on a 21-inch tyre at the front and an 18-incher at the rear. The company has already started taking bookings and only 50 customers will be able to book the motorbike initially. The Africa Twin is only available in one colour Victory Red.
