Nissan will launch the Kicks in India in 2018, will share its platform with the Renault Kaptur.
Nissan will be launching the Kicks SUV in India in the third quarter of 2018. The vehicle will be based on the HHA platform for the Indian market unlike the global model which is based on the PB1D platform. The HHA platform will also underpin the Renault Kaptur which is slated for launch by the end of this year.
The HHA platform is a modified version of the M0 platform that underpins the Lodgy and Duster. The M0 platform was developed by Renault for Dacia more than a decade back and thus Renault gets first rights to products that are based on this low-cost platform.
The Nissan Kicks is a funky looking SUV and the fresh design will appeal to a lot of people. It will also be highly practical and Nissan also claims that it has best-in-segment space at the rear. The Kicks will also get the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines but the oil-burner is likely to get a small bump in power.
