The fourth member of the Range Rover family revealed and it will be launched in India too.
There is a huge gap between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport and to fill this, JLR has now revealed the Range Rover Velar. Looks wise, the basic architecture remains the same, but the Velar gets sharper lines, an aggressive looking face with revised projectors and LED DRLs. Going just by the looks this stands out as the most aerodynamic Land Rover ever.
Coming to the interiors, the Velar gets a new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that comes with two 10-inch touchscreens. The intention behind this is to reduce the number of buttons to an absolute minimum. The system is fully configurable with the lower screen giving faster responses and ensures that there is no lag in functions traditionally controlled by buttons.
The Velar comes with a choice of six engines. The base 2.0-litre diesel in 180 HP and 240 HP guises, the base 2.0-litre petrol with 250 HP while a 300 HP version is expected to join the fray later. There is also the range topping V6 diesel with a 300 HP mill and a V6 petrol with a 380 HP mill. The petrol V6 is a supercharged engine – the only non-turbo engine in the range. The all-wheel drive will be offered as standard equipment with the Terrain Response, an active rear locking e-differential and Torque Vectoring system.
The Range Rover Velar too is a capable off-roader, and has been developed as the most road-biased Range Rover yet. Expect the all new Range Rover Velar to make it to the Indian shores in late 2017 or early 2018 and will go against the likes of the Audi Q7 and Porsche Macan.
