The TVS Akukla 310 is expected to be launched in February 2017. It is the second product from the BMW-TVS alliance after the G310R. It will be manufactured at the automaker’s facility in Hosur alongside the G310R.
TVS Akula 310, which created a lot of buzz at the Auto Expo is expected to launch in February 2017. The Akula is based on the G310R and is the second product in the BMW-TVS alliance. The Akula 310 has been developed with the technical know-how of BMW Motorrard and taking inputs from the TVS factory race riders.
The engine powering the flagship TVS bike is the 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder mill which develops 34 HP at 9500 RPM and 28 Nm of torque at 7500 RPM on the BMW. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The tuning could be different for the Akula. The full-faired sibling is expected to share a lot of parts with the G310R.
The motorcycle will be manufactured at the Hosur plant of the automaker where the G310R is also manufactured. The bike has also been spotted testing fully camouflaged on Indian roads. The motorcycle when launched will not carry forward the Akula name. It is expected to be renamed as the RTR300.
As seen in the recent spy shots, the production version is expected to get USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It will also come equipped with dual projector headlamps, clip-on handlebars, petal disc brake at the front and an LED tail lamp.
TVS will price the bike very aggressively in the Rs. 1.5-1.8 lakh bracket. The bike could go up against the KTM RC200 which is priced similarly. It will stir up the whole small capacity performance motorcycle segment. Let’s see how far the BMW-TVS alliance can penetrate the market.
