The lifestyle pickup truck segment has seen some activity with Isuzu launching the D-Max V-Cross in India. It has got other manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra who already have pickup trucks in their lineup in action. Mahindra and Tata namely have the Scorpio Getaway and Xenon in their portfolio.
The updated Tata Xenon is expected to get the same powertrain as the upcoming Hexa crossover. The engine puts out 156 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The facelifted Xenon pickup truck will be offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission, currently it is available only with a 5 speed manual transmission.
The changes on the outside are minimal with only a body coloured grille and redesigned fog lamp enclosures. The interiors too get few revisions like a new steering wheel, instrument cluster and air con controls. The upcoming facelift is expected to heat things up in the lifestyle pickup truck category.
Mahindra is also said to be working on the updated model of the Scorpio Getaway. These developments could lead to the advent of pickup trucks by international manufacturers in India.
