Car manufacturer sales in September 2016 shows drastic improvement for Renault and stronger market share of Maruti Suzuki in the last month.
September is the beginning of the festive season in the Indian market, in fact it’s a silence before the storm. You don’t really expect a spike in the car sales this month but compared to the last year, there are many interesting changes. Out of 20 manufacturers, 8 have shown negative growth while the rest have seen considerable improvement.
Car manufacturer sales in September 2016 shows a massive 581.8% of growth from Renault, all thanks to the launch of Kwid, which has gained tremendous appreciation from the Indian car buyers. Now that the 1.0-litre engine has been launched, it is expected to get stronger. Second biggest growth comes from its sibling Nissan due to the Datsun cars.
The top spot belongs to Maruti Suzuki since its inception and will continue to do so for decades the way it’s performing in the market. It has seen 29.4% of growth compared to last year selling 1,37,277 units last month. Almost half of the market share in India belongs to Maruti. The new lot of cars has helped it grow in different segments.
Volkswagen and Tata is seeing double digit growth thanks to the Ameo and Tiago. Honda is seeing negative growth of 18.8 percent. This is because their best selling car City is feeling the heat from the more affordable Maruti Ciaz while the rest of the cars belonging to other segments are also finding it difficult to fight the competition.
