The 2016 Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up was spied undergoing testing rounds on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. It will be launched later this year.
Pick up trucks have never received a good response in the Indian market but things seem to be changing slightly now, with the launch of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. Mahindra had been selling the Scorpio Getaway pick-up truck but now the automaker is testing an updated version of the truck that comes with new exteriors and interiors.
We spotted the vehicle undergoing testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The Scorpio Pik Up features a double cab design and the loading bay looks pretty big too. The overall size of the vehicle is large and looks imposing. The front of the truck is shared with the regular Scorpio while the side profile reveals the really long length of the vehicle.
The interiors will also be very similar to the current Scorpio and the equipment list will consist of an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, power windows, power steering, AC, etc. We’re unsure whether the vehicle will get the Micro Hybrid system or not. The vehicle will get the same 2.2-litre mHawk engine of the Scorpio with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4WD system too.
The car that we spotted had the Pik Up badge on it and the same name is also used on the Bolero pick up truck. The Scorpio Pik Up is also sold in Australia under the same name while the Indian version might still get the Scorpio Getaway badge. Mahindra will launch this pick up truck in late 2016 or early 2017.
