We tell you everything about the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Avio, scheduled to arrive in India later this month.
Lamborghini has announced that it will launch the Huracan LP610-4 Avio in India on September 22. This is the second supercar that the Italian carmaker is bringing to India this year, and it will retail alongside the Huracan LP610-4 and LP580-2 coupe models. In the build up to the much-anticipated unveiling, here’s all you need to know about the Avio.
In Esperanto, an “international auxiliary language”, the word ‘Avio’ is a synonym for airplane. So as you can guess, the Huracan Avio pays homage to the aviation industry, from which Lamborghini has taken a lot of design and technological cues in the past.
First shown at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year along with the $1.9 million Centenario, the Avio has a limited run of just 250 units. Lamborghini is yet to state how many cars have been allotted for the Indian market, but expect the number to be in the lower single digits.
Since it’s based on the Huracan LP610-4, the Avio gets the same 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine producing 602 HP (610 PS) of power at 8250 RPM and 560 Nm of torque peaking at 6250 RPM. The 0-100 km/hr time stands at 3.2 seconds with a top-speed of over 325 km/hr.
Power is transferred to all the wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. For the nerds: the Huracan Avio gets carbon-ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tyres measuring 245/30 at the front and 305/30 on the rear, 20-inch GIANO cast wheels, cruise control, a navigation system and the hydraulic nose-lift system as standard.
Here’s where the Avio differs from the other Huracan models. There are five new paint options for the exterior, with their names inspired from the coat of arms of the Italian Air Force academy. On top of that, a pair of racing stripes, that can be chosen in white or grey, runs from the bonnet to the roof of the vehicle and is matched with intricate detailing on the side-skirts, side-view mirrors and the front fascia.
Meanwhile, there’s a ‘L63’ lettering with a tricolor cockade on the doors, with ‘L’ standing for Lamborghini and ‘63’ referring to the year when the company was founded (1963). Furthermore, the interior gets the ‘L63’ badging as well, a special trim plate and some neat touches to the cabin (read: contrasting white stitching and laser-engraved Alcantara in a hexagonal motif on the seats).
We will only get to know the price at the launch, but the cheapest Huracan in the Indian market (LP580-2) retails at Rs. 3 crore and by the time you are up to the LP610-4 Spyder, be prepared to write a cheque of at least Rs. 3.89 crore (all prices ex-showroom). Hence, we won’t be surprised if the Avio crosses the Rs. 4 crore mark.
