Hero Achiever 150, Super Splendor & Passion Pro i3S launch soon. These launches are the initiation of Hero’s plan to launch 15 new products in the Indian market this fiscal.
Hero MotoCorp is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India with the fattest market share. But its sultanate is constantly being threatened by its erstwhile partner Honda, who has been gaining market share at a fast and steady pace, often at the expense of Hero MotoCorp. Thus the Indian company has now decided to defend its turf and retaliate with a barrage of commuter motorcycles to snatch back some of the valuable customers, starting this festive season with three motorcycles, namely the all-new Achiever 150 and stop-start i3S technology-equipped 125cc Super Splendor and 100cc Passion Pro.
Hero Achiever 150
Hero MotoCorp says it will be launching the fully reworked Achiever 150 motorcycle this celebratory season. The motorcycle is not exactly a bestseller from the company portfolio and manages to sell as only 3000 to 4000 units every month. The new Achiever 150 is also slated to get the Hero’s properietary i3S start-stop system to help save precious drops of fuel. The current Hero Achiever 150 produces 13 PS of power from a 149.1cc OHC engine.
Hero Super Splendor 125
The Hero Super Splendor is the smartened up version of the second largest selling two-wheeler in the country and has a bigger 125cc engine. The bike will be getting the i3S start-stop system this festive season to bump up its fuel efficiency numbers, and thereby giving it a push against its ongoing fight with the Honda Activa. Interestingly the Hero Super Splendor will be the first 125cc offering from Hero to get the start-stop technology. The Super Splendor has an air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder OHC 125cc engine which produces 9 PS of power.
Hero Passion PRO
The Hero Passion Pro is also being prepped to get the i3S start-stop technology in the next coming months. All-in-all, the company plans to launch 15 new products this fiscal. Hero has been criticed in past for milking the same old engine and frames due to a non-existant research and development facilty, and thus people are still apprehensive about the announcement and expect the ‘new launches’ to be just some sticker job on old bikes.
