After showcasing the Kwid 1.0-litre at the Auto Expo 2016, Renault is all set to launch the more powerful version of the hatchback this month.
The Renault Kwid has helped the French car maker to rise to the number three spot in the Indian car market, overtaking Mahindra. Before you get too excited, it’s Renault-Nissan and not just Renault alone which means both automaker combined have managed to outsell Mahindra thanks to the CMF-A platform cars – the Kwid and redi-GO.
Launched last year, the Renault Kwid has been lapped by entry-level, first time car buyers who wanted a stylish first car with feature plenty. Renault did face a lot of issues with deliveries due to the huge demand of the Kwid and has boosted production to clear the waiting list quickly. Now the automaker is all set to launch the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre in India, after having showcased it at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Bookings for the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre have opened at dealerships across the country and the launch will take place later this month. The more powerful Kwid will produce around 68 horses, matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Renault will be launching the manual version this month while the AMT model will go on sale around the festive season. Deliveries for the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre will commence next month.
The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre will rival the likes of the Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon 1.0 and Tata Tiago. The company is also working on launching a new variant of the Kwid which will get improved safety in the form of dual front airbags, larger 14-inch wheels and rear power windows. Expect the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre to be as big a sales success as the 800cc version.
