Mercedes-Benz just launched its new urban SUV, the GLC. A rival to the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, the GLC has been priced from Rs. 50.70 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune).
Mercedes has launched the GLC in the Indian market. The urban SUV that was showcased in the 2016 Auto Expo, will go head to head against the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5. The GLC is essentially a new generation GLK class, but gets the GLC tag because of its close relation to the C-Class. It follows the latest design language that is being followed by Mercedes across its range.
The front looks identical to the GLA with small tweaks that give it an angrier face. The rear has been re-designed to look edgier, with the exhaust pipes modelled to look like those on the C-Class. The interiors also look quite similar to the C-Class sedan. It gets all the goodies offered by the C-Class with the latest Mercedes COMAND infotainment system. The wheelbase is longer than the C-Class on which it is based, which frees up additional space on inside.
The GLC is offered in diesel and petrol variants. The diesel GLC 220d is powered by a 2.2-litre oil-burner which makes 166 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque. In petrol, we get the GLC 300 which makes 241 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque . Both the engines come mated to the 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. The GLC also gets the 4MATIC AWD system.
In the Indian market, the GLC is priced at Rs. 50.70 lakhs for the diesel trim and Rs. 50.90 lakhs for the petrol trim (all prices ex-showroom, Pune). It is a direct rival to the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.
