Maruti Ertiga diesel prices have been reduced by a very significant amount owing to the fact that VAT duty on hybrid cars has been reduced by the government.
Maruti offers hybrid cars in India in the form of the Ciaz and Ertiga SHVS models. The Delhi government recently reduced VAT duty on hybrid cars from 12.5% to 5% and Maruti Suzuki has decided to pass on the benefit to customers, thus reducing the prices of the Ciaz and Ertiga by a very significant amount.
The Ertiga is one of the most popular MPVs in the mass market segment and it recently got a mid-life facelift where Maruti also started offering the diesel variants with the famed SHVS tech. The Ertiga SHVS comes with a start-stop mechanism where fuel supply to the engine is cut down when the vehicle is idling for some time.
This results in slightly better fuel efficiency. The Ertiga SHVS is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine producing 89 HP of power and 200 Nm of torque and has an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 24.52 km/l. The oil-burner is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is also offered with a 1.4-litre petrol engine.
Prices for the Maruti Ertiga diesel have been reduced by Rs. 51,000/- for the base LDi variant and going up to Rs. 62,000/- for the top
ZDi Plus variant. In fact, with this price cut, the Ertiga diesel is now cheaper than the newly-launched Vitara Brezza too. The Ertiga ZDi Plus is also cheaper than the ZXi Plus trim now.
