Bajaj, one of the leading motorcycle brands, has created history by giving life to the war hero INS Vikrant in the form of the Bajaj V15
Bajaj launched its premium commuter brand V in India this year with a new motorcycle V15 (where V stands for Vikrant). Introduced at a price of Rs. 62,000/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the V is Bajaj Auto’s new commuter brand as the Discover hasn’t managed to bring them the sales they were hoping it would.
The company’s VP confirmed that they will continue to manufacture more of the motorcycle but as the metal is finite, and some amount is not usable, they cannot give out proper figures. Bajaj plans to sell around 50,000 units of the 150cc ‘V’ bikes per month in the next 12-18 months. Currently the production is capped at 20,000 units.
The Bajaj V15 sports a 150cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces around 12 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 13 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Bajaj V carries a special text on the tank lid that reads “Made with the invincible metal of INS Vikrant”. This adds glory to the motorcycle and evokes a sense of patriotism.
Bajaj V15 Production
– Bajaj plans to export V15 overseas from the next financial year
– Bajaj to roll out V15 for delivery on 23rd March, which is also celebrated as Martyr’s day
– Bajaj to continue production even after it runs out of metal from INS, though the logo on fuel cap would vanish
