Chevrolet has marked their sub-four metre sedan entry by unveiling the Beat Essentia, based on the next-gen Beat hatchback.
The ‘Bowtie’ badge will now sit proudly on the first ever sub-four metre sedan from Chevrolet, named Beat Essentia. The Beat Essentia is based on the next generation Beat. Despite having a close resemblance to its hatchback sibling, the Beat Essentia looks like a proper sedan from most angles. The raising window line with a proper quarter glass is a departure from the Beat’s claustrophobic rear window design. The grab handles re-positioned conveniently give way for the sedan like silhouette.
The Beat Essentia will be launched in the Indian market in 2017 competing against established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest . Chevrolet aims to get inroads joining the highly competitive compact sedan segment with the Beat Essentia. The Beat Essentia clad in beige and orange interiors shares many components with its hatchback sibling, including the popular instrumental cluster.
The Beat Essentia is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol motor derived from the company’s new 1.4-litre Ecotec engine or the 1.2-litre STEC II petrol engine delivering 77 BHP and a 1.0-litre XSDE India-specific three-cylinder diesel engine delivering 56 BHP. During the unveil of Beat Essentia and the Beat Activ, the company also showcased the latest MyLink infotainment system which will be available in both the cars.
