Hyundai has announced that the Verna, Elite i20 and i20 Active will now get dual airbags as standard while the Verna also gets ABS and the Elite i20 gets a new set of headlights.
All the automakers are working towards offering more and more safety features with the growing awareness among the buyers and also because of the new safety norms to be implemented in 2017. In such a move, Hyundai has announced that the Verna, Elite i20 and i20 Active will now get dual airbags as standard across all trims.
The Hyundai Verna also gets ABS as standard on all the trims along with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system for media, navigation and communication. The sedan will also get 6 airbags as an option and a standard warranty of three years for unlimited kms.
The Elite i20 and i20 Active got standard airbags earlier this month with the Sportz (O) trim being discontinued. The Elite i20 gets new projector headlamps with cornering function and DRLs. Both the i20s will now be available in a new body colour called ‘Phantom Black’
The Elite i20 and Creta has made India, the fastest growing and the third-largest market for the Korean manufacturer. The company clocked a growth of 16 percent in 2015 with domestic sales of 4.76 lakh units compared to the 4.11 lakh units in 2014, hence the company’s move of providing these safety features without any changes in the entry price of the Elite i20 and i20 Active is completely understandable.
A similar move is taken by a number of other automakers like Ford who was the first one to offer these safety features on all trims followed by Maruti Suzuki who now offers ABS and dual airbags across all the trims of the Wagon R, Celerio, Swift and Swift Dzire.
