Nissan-owned Datsun has showcased the Bluebird 1600SSS 510 at the Auto Expo and the vehicle is surely going to attract a lot of new fans.
Datsun may have raised a lot of eyeballs with their modern products but the company also has a very rich heritage. The automaker has displayed the Bluebird 1600SSS 510 rally car here at the 2016 Auto Expo and it is surely one car that is catching a lot of attention from the crowd. The design of the vehicle is extremely simple unlike the cars that we see in modern times. The rally car gets some cosmetic add-ons too and there is an air of pure heritage around the car.
The Bluebird 1600SSS measures 4120 mm in length, 1560 mm in width and 1385 mm in height. The car has a wheelbase of 2420 mm. Powering the 510 is an L16 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder in-line engine that belts out 100 PS of power at 5600 RPM and 132 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed floor-shift transmission and the vehicle also gets disc brakes at the front while the rear has to make do with drum brakes.
Top speed of the Datsun Bluebird 1600SSS has been rated at 165 km/hr. The third generation Bluebird was launched as the 1600SSS in 1968 and the coupe model was launched a bit later. The vehicle had quite a bit of power for those times and it was a favourite with the enthusiasts without doubt.
