Mercedes-Benz has displayed their most expensive offering in the country, the S600 Guard at the ongoing Auto Expo.
If you are someone who is highly successful in business and running a big company, chances are you are on the hitlist of some unwanted people. Want to ensure you are safe from them on the move? Your best bet for that is the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Guard which is the armoured version of the S-Class sedan offering the best of safety without compromising on comfort. It was launched in India in May last year and a couple of units have been sold since then.
Incorporating some of the best quality armour components, the S-Guard is capable of providing VR9 level of ballistic protection against firearms to the occupants. The vehicle is built at the Germany plant of Mercedes-Benz and is built using components like aramide, polyethylene and special compound steel to ensure the best level of protection. The underbody also gets an armour plating to reduce damage in case of IED attacks.
Inspite of such extensive modifications, the S-Guard looks similar to the standard S-Class to help keep it discreet. However, the weight of the vehicle is almost double that of the standard car standing at 4200 kgs. To lug around all this weight and cover ground quickly, a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 530 PS of power and a whopping 830 Nm of torque powers the car. All this adds up to a price tag of Rs. 8.9 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it the most expensive car on sale in India.
