The UM Renegade is the flagship offering from the automaker and will be locally manufactured keeping the prices competitive and will be launched later this year.
Officially commencing its operations in India with the Commando range, UM Motorcycles has showcased its flagship Renegade cruiser at the 2016 Auto Expo near Delhi which is grabbing all the attention at the automaker’s pavilion. It is available in three variants:
- Renegade Sport S – Rs. 1.49 lakhs
- Renegade Commando – Rs. 1.59 lakhs
- Renegade Classic – Rs. 1.69 lakhs
*All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
First unveiled at EICMA last year, the new offering will be going on sale later this year in the country and will be locally manufactured at partner Lohia Group’s production facility at Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The UM Renegade Sport S is high on style which also happens to be the cruiser’s strong point with the all-black theme and matte finish.
The styling mimics the much bigger Harley Street 750 and Suzuki Intruder in several parts including the multi-spoke alloy wheels, split seats, black finished exhaust muffler and engine while the fuel tank is finished in a dual-tone paint scheme, which will definitely by appreciated by young buyers.
While the recently updated Bajaj Avenger 220 range already introduced some novelty to the segment, the Sport S takes it a step further as it rivals the offerings from Royal Enfield. Power on the UM Renegade range comes from a 279cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine tuned for 25 BHP of power and 21.8 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The cruiser uses telescopic forks up front and twin shocks at the rear, while stopping power comes courtesy of a front disc brake. A drum unit serves purpose at the rear. UM has not announced anything about introducing ABS on the model, whereas a rear disc brake is expected to be offered upon launch.
