Bookings for the Jaguar XE have officially commenced in India. The sports saloon will be launched in India on 3rd February 2016. It is the first car to be developed on the all-new aluminium intensive architecture.
The sports saloon segment is rapidly growing in India due to the increasing purchasing power and a want for higher standard of living among the new generation. Keeping this in mind, Jaguar is all set to launch the XE in India on 3rd February 2016. Jaguar dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings for the new saloon. The XE looks like a minimised version of the elder XF. The new design language of the British manufacturer can be seen on the new Jaguar XE.
The Jaguar XE is the first car to be built on the aluminium intensive monocoque chassis. The extensive use of aluminium in the making of the XE has helped shred a lot of weight which in turn will result in better performance and fuel efficiency. The Jaguar XE will be offered with a 2.0-litre, V6 petrol engine in India (diesel to follow later), that will be tuned to produce 200 PS power in one variant while the other variant will be producing 240 PS of peak power. This engine will send power to the rear wheels using an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The new saloon from the Tata Motors owned British manufacturer boasts of a lot of luxurious features like Softgrain Windsor leather seats, 380 watts Meridian sound system, interior mood lighting, surround camera system and panoramic sliding sunroof. The ride quality is improved with features like torque vectoring by braking, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), etc. The interior of the XE has been designed to give the Jaguar feel while you are inside the cabin.
The Jaguar XE is expected to be offered at a starting price of around Rs. 32 lakhs. The saloon when launched will take on the likes of the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and Volvo S60. The British manufacturer is expected to face a little difficulty with the new Jaguar XE as the German competitors are in the market since a very long time. However, the light-weight aluminium architecture along with other factors will help the new entry-level Jag to build a strong impression among the masses.
