Japanese automaker Toyota is going to tease the Indian market by showing some interesting vehicles at the Auto Expo which won’t be launched here.
Toyota has imported two units of the Aygo hatchback and the vehicle is going to be displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Aygo shares its underpinnings with the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108. The exteriors of the vehicle have a very stylish and sporty appeal. The fascia is aggressive to look at while the side profile looks neat and compact. The rear again has a futuristic approach and works well with the overall theme of the vehicle.
The same funky theme is carried over to the interiors too. The insides have a youthful colour combination of red and black and the overall layout isn’t too complicated. The centre console boasts of an X-infotainment system with a 7-inch touch-screen display. The vehicle gets features like ABS, EBD, VSC, curtain airbags, TPMS, hill-start control, etc. All in all, the Aygo is a great package as a proper city car.
Talking about mechanicals, the Toyota Aygo has a 1.0-litre petrol engine under its hood and this motor belts out 68 PS of power 95 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0-100 km/hr takes 14.2 seconds while the vehicle maxes out at a top speed of 160 km/hr. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission but Toyota also offers an X-shift AMT gearbox with the Aygo. The automatic variant also comes with paddle shifters. The hatchback has a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.8 km/l.
The Toyota Aygo will be shown at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. Both the vehicles have been imported at a price of Rs. 11-16 lakhs. The Aygo would make for a really good car for the Indian market but unfortunately Toyota will not be launching the vehicle here due to high production costs which won’t be able to justify the cost of this car.
