A lot has been spoken about the new generation TVS Apache that just refuses to reveal itself. While details and speculations range from 200cc oil-cooled motor to two variants, there is little confirmation on either of those details from the company. Given TVS’ involvement in the making of the BMW G310R, reports are rife that the new Apache could use the same underpinnings, similar to the Bajaj-KTM formula. Now, a new theory has emerged online which states that the 2016 Apache just might be faster than the KTM Duke 200.

A report suggests that the TVS Apache RTR 200 will be a direct rival to the Duke 200 and has been engineered to perform better than the naked orange in every aspect. The RTR 200 will also be quicker than the Duke in the 0-60 km/hr sprint which is expected to be achieved in just 3.5 seconds. That said, the Austrian motorcycle is known to do the same run in 3.33 seconds. So, is TVS bringing down the time even further? Something we are yet to know.

Going by the current reports, the TVS Apache RTR 200 will be using an air-cooled with oil cooling, single-cylinder engine tuned to belt out around 28 PS of peak power and between 22-25 Nm of torque, paired to probably a 5-speed gearbox. In comparison, the KTM Duke 200 uses a 199.5cc single-cylinder, water-cooled engine that is tuned to make 25.4 PS and 19.2 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of aesthetics, the TVS Apache RTR 200 will be sharing design details with the Draken concept featuring a brawny looking fuel tank, tapered headlight cluster with DRLs, LED tail light, digital instrument cluster, split seats, wavy alloy wheels among other details. The test mules caught in Indonesia were spotted with different handlebars; hence, it is unclear if the bike will get clip-ons or a single wide piece. A reveal is expected at the 2016 Auto Expo next February finally disclosing all the details. Has the Duke 200 finally met its match? What do you guys think.
